[03]Fraud by AB Con-Tech Real Estates,Bhubaneswar[New Indian Express 04/01/2005]

City police have arrested the managing director Jamini Kant Parida and manager Brahmananda Pradhan

for fradulently executing power of attorney and power of agreement of a IRC village plot that actually

belonged to someone else.According to police,N6/22,the plot in question, belonged to one Pravabati Ray of

Barapada,Jajpur district. The plot was apparently lying vacant for a long time. Both Parida and Pradhan filed

a case before the court stating that original documents of the land were damaged in the super cyclone in 1999

and requested for new papers. They allegedly paraded an unknown woman before the revenue officials to

secure the papers. After getting the documents, they sold the plot to one Ashutosh Biswal for Rs16 lakhs.Police

suspects that the transaction was fake and was done merely to get a sale deed which is considered important

for transactions.Nayapalli police stated that the two were trying to sell the plot through one of their agents who

incidentally came across Ray(the genuine owner)'s son who was looking for a plot  for himself.Without disclosing

his identity,Ray's son lodged a complaint with the police. The accused are said to be involved in a series of such

transactions/cheatings as police recovered more than 50 deeds from their possession. The value of these deeds

would run into crores.
